While on a team at CRSA Mark Morris from VODA assisted in the development of a regulating plan for the Farmington Station area of the FrontRunner commuter rail system. The city of Farmington had been dissatisfied with previous ordinances for the area, and wanted to craft a regulating plan that would be effective in creating the transit-oriented development patterns that would be most appropriate for this area.
The project area is at the crossroads of Interstate 15, Highway 89, the FrontRunner system, and the Legacy Highway. In addition, it is less that a mile from Farmington’s historic downtown. The city saw this area as an opportunity to spur a form of development that has not been seen previously in Farmington. The project team developed a practical and efficient street network, as well as a land use ordinance that would encourage various growth patterns, based on the form of transportation servicing that area.
