In 2016, the Salt Lake City Division of Housing and Neighborhood Development (HAND) engaged VODA to analyze housing policy needs for Salt Lake City. VODA worked closely with HAND staff to develop and refine policies that meet the challenges Salt Lake City faces in providing housing to a growing population in a tight rental market.
The plan outlines objectives for addressing the current housing shortage and proposes policy solutions that offer the greatest possible impact for households who currently struggle to find adequate housing in Salt Lake City.
Salt Lake City’s Housing Policy effort included streamlining existing practices to help the City respond to market demands more efficiently, while also creating and implementing policies to increase the amount of workforce housing and to ease economic pressures on cost-burdened households.
