In 2010 VODA worked on a team with Community Studio to develop a transit-oriented development study for South Salt Lake City. With the approach of the Sugar House Streetcar project, South Salt Lake was intent on maximizing investment in land around the streetcar corridor.
At the intersection of several emerging transit routes, the city of South Salt Lake is a prime location for expansion of transitoriented development along the Wasatch Front. The existing north/south Sandy TRAX line currently has one station under operation at “Central Point” in South Salt Lake.
VODA developed several conceptual renderings for presentation to South Salt Lake City to drive discussion of smart growth principles in the neighborhoods along the streetcar corridor.
In 2012, VODA assisted South Salt Lake City’s planning department in developing a landscape handbook to establish urban design principles for landscape elements in the city. This manual is distributed to developers and home owners seeking to meet the city’s standards, and applies to all future development in the city.
